We are given many leads and tips on stories that submarine veterans themselves think are worthy to preserve for posterity. From all these tips, we have selected some that stand out – either because of their uniqueness, or the topic, or because they are just good stories – for inclusion in Sub Tales 4. In our other books, we never captured the stories of the families the loved ones left behind, as their husbands and fathers went to sea on submarines. Sub Tales 4 captures these, with one from Bruce Harvey, the son of CDR Wes Harvey, USN, who was the Captain of the USS Thresher (SSN 593) that sank with 129 hands aboard on 10 April 1963.
